The Mountain Project prepares athletes for achieving full potential in the mountains. We offer physical and mental training carefully designed to prepare you for the powerful experiences that define mountain life. Our coaches craft individually tailored programs so you can take outdoor pursuits to the next level, and we cultivate a community of fellow adventure lovers to keep you motivated. We’re taking tried-and-true training principles developed in sports like distance running, skiing, and cycling, and offering the same level of professionalism for mountain athletes. Our goal is to harness the passion for a summit sunrise, or the perfect line through untracked powder, and use that feeling to prepare you for your biggest goals. We’ll get you ready for the big days ahead whether you’re looking to claim your next first ascent or descent, tackle a mountain running race, or you’re just stepping into the world of outdoor adventures.

The Technique of Mountain Sport

Living in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, we’re fortunate to have countless high peaks, endless single-track trails, and miles of river to explore. These places define our way of life, and our spirit for adventure. The Mountain Project believes that training for any mountain sport demands, first and foremost, that the athlete spend most of their time doing the actual sport in the outdoors. The gym training, however, is what sharpens our skill set–both physically and mentally.  In the gym, we have a controlled environment to: fine tune your fitness for peak performance and enjoyment, train your weaknesses, hone your strengths, develop durability and injury prevention, advance pre-season and off-season strength and base training, surround you with a motivated and supportive group of athletes, and develop your mental fitness for the mountains.

 

We strive to develop athletes’ endurance, strength, functional ability, and mobility.  This is holistic training for longevity, enjoyment, and performance in the mountains.

 

In addition to building sport-specific functional training programs, our coaches also provide–and emphasize–mental training techniques to maintain the focus required to make solid decisions in the mountains.  The mental training for mountain sport is more important than the physical.  We work with athletes and groups on developing mental fitness for the mountains.
